The Herald website carried an article on 7 October concerning the ongoing meetings regarding the partial closure of Princes Street under the heading:

Bid To Ensure Princes Street Stays Open

The article also includes a reference to the scuffle which ensued when traders on Leith Walk put up a 'Happy Birthday' banner for a hole on Leith Walk which has been in situ for a year!

The Daily Record also got in on the act with their headline:

A Hole Lotta Trouble

As well as reporting on the story, the article finished with the cringingly bad joke, "And on yesterday's fracas over the big hole - police said they were looking into it."!
