|Discussion of the Edinburgh trams in the Stornoway Gazette|

The following article appeared in the Stornoway Gazette on 30 April 2008:
The author seems to have a somewhat cynical view of the development: suggesting that the slowly creeping costs are likely to continue, and that while the finished tramline will undoubtedly be aesthetically pleasing, it would be running against a backdrop of boarded-up shops, and would be of little actual benefit to visitors to the city centre.
Time alone will tell whether the predictions prove prophetic!
It is also interesting to see that Edinburgh's trams are of interest furth of Edinburgh, as far afield as Stornoway! (Although I suspect that the Stornoway Gazette originates from the Scotsman offices, a stone's-throw from Holyrood.)
