In his response, Willie Gallagher comments, 'In spending public money, we must be rigorous in ensuring that the scheme works, adds benefit and is delivered on time and to budget. Aesthetic issues, whilst important must always follow behind those core principles.' . The comment appears at odds with the advertising literature which extoll the design aesthetics of trams.
